The National WWII Museum: September 25, 2022

In honor of Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day, Dr. Finkelstein did a virtual “Meet the Author” event with The National WWII Museum to discuss her book, Forgotten Veterans, Invisible Memorials: How American Women Commemorated the Great War, 1917-1945. Her remarks explored the history of Gold Star mothers and widows as well as the ways that the women of World War I paved the way for the next generation of women who served in World War II.

Located in New Orleans, Louisiana, The National WWII Museum “tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.”
