I was honored to be a guest on the October 14, 2025, episode of Dr. Heather Warfield’s podcast, “The Psychology of Pilgrimage.” An interdisciplinary podcast positioned at the crossroads of scholarship and practice, “The Psychology of Pilgrimage” explores the many aspects of pilgrimages from the perspectives of both pilgrims and academics.
In this episode, Dr. Warfield and I discussed a range of topics, such as the Gold Star pilgrimages of the 1930s and the ways that American women commemorated World War I. We also delved into the ongoing effort to expand the scope of what is considered military history. It was an inspiring and engaging conversation!
