On May 27, 2024, in conjunction with Memorial Day, the new documentary series The Great War premiered on the History Channel. This two episode program traces America’s involvement in World War I using historic photos and footage, actors, and commentary from noted scholars of World War I.
I was honored to be featured on the show and included among these experts! Many of these other scholars are mentors, friends, and colleagues I have long admired and learned from. Sharing the incredible stories of the American experience in World War I on such a large platform represents an important step in the ongoing effort to raise public awareness about World War I in the United States. I especially hope that my comments about the wartime service of women will make an impact on the public.
