I was recently honored to have an article I wrote published in the November 2024 edition of the American Historical Association’s (AHA) newsmagazine Perspectives on History. In this article, I wrote about my journey from graduate school to a career as a federal government historian. My goal in this piece was to shed light on the significant work being done by federal historians and to raise awareness about this job option among members of the AHA, particularly graduate students. I hope it will inspire other historians to consider government jobs as well impart upon AHA members the importance of the scholarship and public history projects being created by federal historians.
